Dan Patterson Diving
Personalized SCUBA Training - Guided Diving Services
An Introduction, Training Philosophy and Courses Offered
Thank you for taking the time to visit my site. I'm Daniel Patterson, an active cave/wreck instructor, as well as a Advanced Trimix Instructor Trainer. At 3000+ dives, spanning over two decades, I've been fortunate enough to experience many memorable dives. Some would include the Andrea Doria, Kendrick, U-869, Lowrance, Monitor, Oriskiny, RB Johnson, and the Wilkes-Barre are examples of my wreck diving resume.
My 1000+ logged cave dives include both Mexico, and Florida locales, having visited over 30 sites collectively. In 2009, I was fortunate enough to be voted on the BOD of Florida Speleological Researchers, Inc. which affords me the opportunity to guide those qualified in the Diepolder cave system. Additionally, I am an active member of the Training Committee for the National Association for Cave Diving, (NACD).
Outside of training, which is his full-time occupation, Dan "fun" dives as often as his training calendar will allow; a day spent at Diepolder, or a reef in the Florida Keys, each has their allure!
I adhere to a simple training philosophy..."offer quality versus quantity". Regardless of the class, one will not find an overburdened instructor or large groups. What one will experience is a personable, comfortable training atmosphere that is paced at the progression of improvement of the class, as a team.
If you have any questions concerning training, scheduling a class, or class details, please don't hesitate to contact me.
In terms of recreational SCUBA, level regardless, the essential purpose of training is to provide a starting point, with regard to knowledge, so that one may be better prepared for amassing experience slowly in a given specific discipline of diving; be it as a beginner or an expert. Additionally, training is more than a textbook, classroom, and required skills. A combination of these things, as well as the personal experiences the instructor brings to a class, enhance the students' ability to rationalize the purposes of the lessons, and drills. This results in a heightened appreciation for required tasks in a course, and increases the likelihood they'll be practiced as the student progresses post-training. Naturally, small classes increase exposure between student and teacher, the true source of information in any continuing education SCUBA class. Small classes, in addition to personalized attention, is the foundation of training we offer. Of course, we understand that training is an investment of your time, money, and most importantly, your safety.
I accept the latter as my ultimate responsibility.
